Basic Function and Principles Responsible for performing engineering duties regarding planning and designing the appropriate type of electrical system, electrical devices (eg. circuit, wiring systems, lighting systems, electronic information systems and electrical equipment and components) that fit with the other mechanical systems (Heating, lighting and operating mechanical devices) taking into consideration the principles of electrical energy transmission and power distribution and ensures that mechanical and other systems along with their devices will function safely and economically in line with the agreed upon design criteria, project/client cost requirements, specifications and international industry codes.

Roles and Responsibilities
Financialü Performs the required design within the allocated budgeted hours (as per agreed upon project plan).
 ü Performs the required design tasks with the lowest number of errors (as per internal and external customers’ requirements) with a minimum wastage of time for reworks.
Customerü Manages and maintains effective relationships with the internal and external customers, consultants, contractors and subcontractors and any other involved parties on the project.
 ü Carries out necessary value engineering analysis and provide assurance to the client that their technical and budgetary requirements are respected in the design.
Internal Processü Executes endorsed plans and programs to achieve set goals.
 ü Suggests plans, programs and activities to boost the efficiency/ effectiveness of the section/ unit.
 ü Determines work procedures, preparing work schedules and expediting work flow to improve efficiency and maintaining harmony among junior colleagues.
 ü Assigns/ distributes duties, supervises work activities for excellence and ensures conformance to policies and procedures.
 ü Plans and schedules the work and efficiently distributes the work to be done among the allocated hours in order to meet the agreed upon program deadlines.
 ü Prepares power load estimated calculations after estimating project mechanical and operational requirements using industry recommended software.
 ü Determines the interior and exterior lighting, type of electrical power generations as well as power distribution and prepares electrical design layout.
 ü Prepares the electrical designs related to circuiting and panel boards of power, one line diagram of the power system as well as designs related to lighting circuits, control and switching.
 ü Prepares the calculations of the voltage drop, short circuit and load flow of the system using ECODIAL, DOCWIN, ETAP or any other company software.
 ü Selects the right electrical instruments, equipment, facilities and any other electrical component related to the selected electrical system.
 ü Estimates the cost of the selected electrical system and ensures it complies with the customer allocated budget and ensures space allocated for the electrical equipment fit with the electrical design.
 ü Reviews the appropriate standards and ensures all electrical design works meet the international codes (NEC or IEC and SASO…etc).
 ü Considers during the design phase the installation processes that will be taken for the selected electrical instruments, equipment, components and systems to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
 ü Reviews and evaluates technical submittals and drawings prior to submission to consultants and clients according to required project standards.
 ü Resolves any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise at any time.
 ü Uses and utilizes computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
 ü Instructs draftsmen and CADD operators about requested detailed architectural drawings to be prepared and as per client/TOR requirements.
 ü Monitors the electrical work on a regular basis to ensure compliance with schedule, production budget, and technical accuracy. Prepares progress reviews reports periodically.
 ü Alerts Department Head/ Section Head with any changes of scope, lack of information, or decisions taken by the project coordinator/manager or client that affect schedule, production costs, or quality of work.
 ü Reviews the performed drawings upon the completion of project milestone and conducts in-house quality control before submittals.
 ü Establishes a professional relationship with co-workers, contractors and consultants.
 ü Ensures progress monitoring and early problem prevention through Analyzing situations and problems accurately, identify and weigh the probable effects of alternative solutions and implement effective courses of action.
 ü Sets, organizes & conducts general review meetings dealing with progress, coordination, procurement, Quality-related & technical issues, safety and cost control; enforce the full compliance of all concerned with the decisions taken therein.
 ü Prepares periodic reports with respect to unit activities and achievements to be submitted to the direct supervisor.
 ü Participates in the performance appraisals process through guiding other junior employees and ensures commitment with scheduled plans.
 ü Conducts any other job-related tasks or duties as assigned by the Project Lead Electrical Engineer.

Work Experience

  • 5 – 11 years of progressive and professional experience in Electrical engineering.
  • Have a good knowledge in the design and implementation of Electrical systems (eg. circuit, wiring systems, lighting systems, electronic information systems and electrical equipment and components…etc).
  • Have a good knowledge in the design of electrical systems and the codes used such as NEC or IEC and SASO…etc.
  • Should have good knowledge of latest building trends in Automated/Smart Buildings systems.
  • Knowledge in ECODIAL, DOCWIN, ETAP systems as well as Revit System is a MUST.
 

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or relevant field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
