Basic Function and Principles Directs the process of creating the project Landscape planning and concept design related to development of land areas for projects such as parks, recreational facilities and parkways…etc and determines the plantation, "hard" (built) and "soft" (planted) materials in compliance with standards and codes while integrating ecological sustainability. Ensures that all Landscape architects are using computer-aided design and drafting technology efficiently to present design ideas and ensures to coordinate Landscape design concept among design team members. Directs the process of working with the clients/project owners during Landscape design idea creation and during design drawings preparation and ensures to capture his/her insights, ideas, perceptions, expectations and requirements as well as understands the functionality of the project structures and use of its spaces, to translate these inputs into Landscape design that fits with the structural and conceptual design and considered acceptable for the client over other competitors and meets local standards and requirements. Directs the process of collaboration with engineers and architects from other disciplines (especially the Architects/Civil Engineers) throughout project various phases to prevent any design issues and develop landscaping designs that achieve environmental, socio-behavioral, and/or aesthetic outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities
Financialü Performs the required design tasks within the allocated time (before the deadline) with the lowest number of design errors meeting customers', architects and other engineer's requirements.
Customerü Ensures that all landscape design tasks are developed with the highest quality and according to the customer needs and wants.
 ü Manages and maintains effective relationships with all clients, engineers from other disciplines, architects as well as any other involved parties.
Internal Processü Executes endorsed plans and programs to achieve set goals.
 ü Suggests plans, programs and activities to boost the efficiency/ effectiveness of the section/ unit.
 ü Determines work procedures, preparing work schedules and expediting work flow to improve efficiency and maintaining harmony among junior colleagues.
 ü Assigns/ distributes duties, supervises work activities for excellence and ensures conformance to policies and procedures.
 ü Reviews the received TOR and/or meets with the project manager/client to get his insights, ideas, perceptions, expectations as well as the project specifications and requirements.
 ü Supervises and ensures the coordination with the client with regards to the Landscape planning and concept design ideas and receives his feedback and recommendations for changes.
 ü Supervises the preparation of the design criteria reports which clarifies assessment criteria, design parameters and the selected materials along with the preliminary sketches using various computer-assisted designs and drafting software, with the assistance – if required- with the draftsmen.
 ü Collaborates with other Section Managers from other disciplines to discuss project requirements and prevents any design issues and in order to acquire the functionality of the project and other requirements such as building accessibility, pedestrians, external lighting requirements…etc.
 ü Provides technical assistance and expertise related to preparation of a unified state of the art landscaping design regarding development of site designs, grading plans, landscape planting plans as well as irrigation designs and water resource plans in line with the customer budget and in compliance with standards and codes while integrating ecological sustainability.
 ü Supervises translating the approved design concepts into technically feasible solutions and prepares the construction documents along with all required deliverable materials and drawings.
 ü Prepares the final landscaping design drawings and final sketches in a total presentation package (including design drawings, renderings, models & report etc.).
 ü Conducts presentation for the client and receives his/her opinion/feedback and if any changes required.
 ü Performs changes and amends the design as per requested- if any- after discussing these changes with architects and engineers from other disciplines and supervises final retouching, packaging and transport of design project to Client.
 ü Regularly checks if there are any changes of scope or lack of information that affect schedule, production costs, or quality of work.
 ü Maintains and stores project records, data and documents.
 ü Review and coordination of documents for in-house quality control and submission for milestones progress reviews.
 ü Mediates disagreements among landscape architects and makes decisions always in regard to the best interests of the project and the Firm.
 ü Monitor's landscaping unit work on a regular basis to ensure compliance with schedule, production budget and technical accuracy.
 ü Ensures progress monitoring and early problem prevention through analyzing situations and problems accurately, identify and weigh the probable effects of alternative solutions and implement effective courses of action.
 ü Sets, organizes & conducts general review meetings dealing with progress, coordination, procurement, Quality-related & technical issues, safety and cost control; enforce the full compliance of all concerned with the decisions taken therein.
 ü Directs the periodical internal status meeting (weekly, bi-weekly, etc.).
 ü Prepares periodic reports with respect to the division's/ department's activities and achievements to be submitted to the Section Manager.
 ü Prepares periodic reports with respect to unit activities and achievements to be submitted to the direct supervisor.
 ü Participates in the performance appraisals process through guiding other junior employees and ensures commitment with scheduled plans.
 ü Conducts any other job-related tasks or duties as assigned by the Project Lead Traffic Engineer.

Work Experience

  • 5 - 11 years of professional experience in the field of landscaping architectural design.
  • Deep Knowledge in landscaping design codes as well as Saudi local codes, guidelines and standards.
  • Deep Knowledge in plantation types, "hard" (built) and "soft" (planted) materials with the nature and water requirement and estimated cost of each type.
  • Knowledge in design and civil engineering codes as well as Saudi local codes, guidelines and standards.
  • Knowledge in Social Sciences (eg. Economics, history, archeology, sociology, anthropology) and community planning.
  • Capable to develop an effective presentations using PowerPoint, 3D MAX, Photoshop & Sketch up or any other software.
  • Capable in using AutoCAD, revit or any other design software.
  • Capable in using various project management software applications such as MS Project, Primavera and AutoCAD/STAD.
  • Skilled in estimating project resource requirements (manpower, materials, financial).
  • Knowledge in Revit System is a MUST.
 

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering/ Landscape or Planning.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
